  1. Spring 2020
    Spotlight on Tuscany 2020
    Location: Tuscany Region of Italy Cost: TBD The departing flight would take us to Florence (Italy, not Colorado!), and then we will travel to Montecatini Terme where we will reside in the same hotel during the entire stay taking day trips filling our itinerary: Day 1: Overnight Flight Day 2: Montecatini Terme – tour begins. There will be a welcome dinner for all the travelers. Day 3: Florence – tours of the Academy Gallery with the statue of David, cathedrals, and shops. Day 4: Lucca – Borgo a Mozzano – guided tours or on your own. Day 5: Pisa – the Leaning Tower! You can take a cooking class if you wish, then sit down to your own meal. Day 6: Siena – take a walking guided-tour and then tour the cathedral on your own or get back with the guide for more touring. Then gather at a Tuscan Winery and learn about Chianti, making wine, and olive oil. Day 7: Montecatini Terme – do whatever you wish. Shop, eat, or visit the coastline and vineyards. Day 8: San Gimignano – Explore the town. Then we can visit a cheese farm and learn how pecorina cheese is made and then taste some! Day 9: Montecatini Terme – travel day home. We hope you have interest in this trip for Spring 2020. We are currently deciding on a late April or late May trip. As soon as details are firm we will post them here.

    Pinot Noir Tasting At The Warehouse
    Location: The Warehouse 25 West Cimarron Street, Colo Springs, CO 80903 AWS Members: $50; Non-Members & Guests $55 Join us for a varietal tasting of Pinot Noir. We will be tasting 5 samples from 5 different regions to explore how a grape is influenced by region, terroir, climate, and wine-making techniques. 1st - A Californian Pinot paired with mushrooms stuffed with lamb and cotija cheese with roasted pepper hollandaise 2nd – A French Pinot paired with ragout of roasted tomato and forest mushrooms with hand rolled linguine 3rd – A Chilean Pinot paired with chicken marsala with mushroom and shallot sauce 4th – A New Zealand Pinot paired with roasted pork loin with cherry mostarda And 5th – An Oregon Pinot paired with blackberry and buttermilk crostada This event is hosted by Shaye and Dawn Moskowitz. Shaye will lead the wine education portion by talking about each style of Pinot Noir. RSVP and payment deadline is: March 26, 2019.

    An Evening in Tuscany
    Location: Downtown Fine Spirits & Wines 103 S. Wahsatch Ave. Colorado Springs, CO 80903 Location: Downstairs (The Alibi Room – aka Dreamcatchers) Cost: AWS Members $30, Non-Members & Guests $35 Come join us for a tasting of seven (7) amazing wines by Ruffino with cicchetti (Venetian tapas) pairings prepared by Chef Aaron Christensen. We will enjoy the Venetian foods with the 7 Ruffino wines: Welcome wine - Sparkling Rose, an Il Ducale Pinot Grigio Friuli, an llodola Nuova Nobile Di Montepulciano, a Riserva Ducale Chianti Classico, a Modus Toscana, a Greppone Mazzi Brunello DI Montalcino, and a Moscato D’Asti. At this event we will also be talking and learning more about the 2020 AWS “Tuscany Italy Trip.” RSVP, payment, and cancellation deadline is: Friday April 12, 2019 ***Bring your Favorite Wine Tasting Glass*** ***Limited to 80 participants!***
